Back From Square One

Its been a while and I don't know where to start. I'm back at square one.  I started this blog as a way to express myself...but along the way I just stopped.  Maybe because of the views, maybe because of the stress of being an adult. Maybe...just maybe I got tired of it all.  But now that I am back to square one with little savings, a lot of time due to unemployment and thoughts I can't get out I think this is the right time to start over.  So if you are new to this page, Hi My name is Alice and welcome back to my blog.  I'll try to update as much as possible on this side of the internet with little snippets of my life, maybe some reviews and possibly a lot more.  If you would like to join the journey, you are welcome to do so. I'd love to have new company over.  See you on the flip side my loves.  Much Love,  xx Alice

Dream Scents By Urbanhue's First Date Review

Image
Third day in the row baby! I know, right? I have got it on girl so watch out! Today's product to review is Dream Scents by Urbanhue First Date! This is actually the very first one I bought from them!  First Date is a Chypre Floral Fragrance that gives a very fresh and clean perfume which is perfect for first impressions.  One of the things I do notice about a person is their scent and definitely if you use amazing perfume - I like you already!  I do like this scent though on the initial spray it would have a strong antiseptic wiff to it but the longer it is to the skin develops into a light floral that smells very clean and lady like. Projection is good though the lasting power is a bit weaker than warm nights.  Compared to Warm Nights, this one you may over spray though when I over spray on this on a warm day makes the scent evolve to like an alcohol scent which is no bueno.  Overall I love this scent though I would not recommend this to anyone. If you a...

Coalition Launches Manual and Training Program on NGO War Against Malnutrition

Image
Did you guys know that the first 1,000 days of a child is an integral part of their development? I was surprised when I attended the Children's First One Thousand Days Coalition (CFDC) launched last January 13, 2024, its operations manual and training program on how it will help in the government’s war against malnutrition.  Attending this event really opened my eyes in how important nutrition is for a child. Though I did grew up privileged enough that my parents were able to teach us why a balanced meal is important and also knowing the alternatives to food options to give us freedom to switch it up anytime we want. Such is not really the case for most families then and even now - Which means that more than ever we need to be at arms to help each other to make sure the future of our nation would be able to have the proper tools for success.  There is a law, RA 11148 entitled “Kalusugan at Nutrisyon ng Magnanay Act”, that seeks to address malnutrition during children’s first o...

Here We Go Again!

Image
As a new year starts we start to have the usual *New Year's Resolutions* spiel all over again and I will be honest - I don't want to do that this year.  Call me a pessimist but I just find it bothersome to create a list of things I want to do but yet by the second week of the year I would just forget no matter how many reminders I put it on my google calendar.  So this year I won't do that. I won't make a New Year's Resolution - I'll just start doing what I want without setting myself for failure by putting myself into unrealistic standards.  Starting with this blog.  I know I promised that I will start blogging again but here we are mid January with my first post - ugh girl why? LIFE HAPPENED that's why.  I do promise to make sure to update my blog every single time I have the time to do so because right now with my whole schedule packed like a last minute road trip overnight bag the only luxury I have is sleep which I only get roughly 5 hours at best....

KOICA partners with World Vision to address teenage pregnancy

Image
Teenage pregnancy has been a longstanding concern that many countries face to this day. I remember when I was younger, my parents highlighted especially for me being the only daughter the complications of getting pregnant at a very young age. The taboos, consequences and also what I will miss if I do things a young person should never do. I was blessed to be able to take part in a little get together along with other members of the media to know more about the study that was created with World Vision, a Christian humanitarian organization dedicated to working with children, families, and their communities worldwide to reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty and injustice. In ASEAN member states, the Philippines has one of the highest adolescent birth rates where according to 2019 World Bank data, the country has 55 births annually per 1,000 women aged 15-24 have already begun childbearing, according to a 2021 Young Adult Fertility and Sexuality Study. Being p...

Quezon City Launches Care to Right Card- a landmark initiative to acknowledge rights for LGBTQIA+ Couples.

Image
Queer life partners in the city will soon be able to legally decide for each other with regards to healthcare matters. I remember one of my closest friend and his partner were in an accident - his partner had to get a procedure done but since he is does not have the power to be able to help him make decisions, we had to call his parents that were in California at that time. It was so hard but thankfully we were able to do it. Thankfully the Quezon City Government has launched the Right to Care Card that will empower resident queer couples to make medical decisions for their partners.  The Right to Care card will be made operational through a Special Power of Attorney (SPA) and will recognize the decision of the card holders to agree, refuse, or withdraw consent of any type of medical care for their partners including treatment, procedures, tests, and prescriptions.  As a vocal ally of the LGBTQIA+ community and equality champion, Mayor Joy Belmonte expresses the importance of ...

What Working Again in a company feels like

Because of this whole pandemic it got me thinking again of what matters the most to me. I was not getting any younger and pursuing blogging full time and attending events just to earn some brownie points wasn't really cutting it in for me.  Believe me I loved that side of being a content creator but there is also a side I wasn't really fond of - the back breaking tasks of editing, conceptualizing, posting deliverables and waiting to get paid. The amount of effort I put out doesn't really pay the bills if I can be completely honest.  I remember one of my lowest point was being offered to ghost write another blog and I would potentially get paid by the amount of views or comments like what the actual crap was that?! I had to decline that offer because I don't really like to put a price on the articles I put out.  I love how some of you would be so happy and inspired after reading a post and message me about your insights about it. Believe me I respond so fast in those...

I remember when I first joined Let's Cook Pare which relived my passion in cooking even with limited resources.   LCP, a non-government organization that started in Facebook became relevant to the cooking communityas quarantine cooking became one of every Filipinos anxiety outlet. During late evenings I would scroll endlessly to check out pictures and recipes from other members which shows true ingenuity of Filipinos. How Do You Start Over again?

Image
There would be times where I just don't know if I am doing the right things in my life because sometimes the outlook is just not looking great.  I had this thought a couple of months back when I was going to be endorsed on production to take calls in my current company where I was like 'Is this really the right decision for me?' 'Are we sure about this?' those questions kept going over and over in my head as the days go on and as I take more calls.  And I think I made a right decision. Its been about 6 months since that time and I have never felt more secured with what I decided.  Another factor that made me go and pursue this path is because I am not getting any younger. I admit, I chased a dream wherein I am not really sure if I am destined for it. I haven't given up on blogging and content creation but I can honestly say that its more than views and clicks for me now. It has become a way for me to express myself and help people come out of their shell too. S...

Image
Honestly I have been having off days lately and sometimes I feel like I am physically sick after a days work. It can be due to stress or anxiety which can actually manifest to a physical illness and luckily I have ways to cope with it like Lola Remedios.

Run Free My Sweet Rocky

Image
Honestly the last time I felt this much pain from a loss was a decade ago- and last Monday it came back.  I wasn't able to introduce Rocky on my blog formally because..well..I did that on my youtube channel. I should've done that honestly because Rocky has made a huge impact on my life that I wasn't able to share to anyone.

Being Confident

Image
I have always been insecure about so many things - my weight, my looks, and everything else. Maybe its because I wasn't given enough validation as a child and a lot of unresolved issues that sometimes I tend to build walls around me.  I know I'm not the only one that feels this way. I try my best to be as confident as I need to because if I let my insecurities bring me down, I won't be able to do my best in life.  There was a time where I went on a date and he told me that he consented into this because he felt bad for me. I immediately walked away from this date and blocked him. I thought I can have a relationship with this person because he understood that he is getting to know a person who was overcoming trauma from previous relationships - boy was I wrong.  I usually come off as very confident and outgoing to some people and they are impressed how I am able to carry myself and be comfortable with my body. What they didn't know is what they see is a front. Inside...

When Will My Life Begin (Again) ?

While writing this article I am blasting When My Life Begin at 1AM as if giving me the creative powers I need. Call me childish but blasting Disney songs while writing does give me that boost I need. And this song actually speaks a lot about my life right now and also the global pandemic. We are under another GCQ which is now less restrictive (I Guess) but still has those limitations that we had been enjoying since December.

Missing My Mojo

For the past couple of months - or you can say years rather, I had lost the ability to write my feelings again. I honestly craved just having that creative flow through my veins and just write until I can't write no more.

I Am Broke(n)

I have always been the kind of person that would always say 'I'm Okay' but in reality I am just saying that. Whether may it be mentally, physically, and especially financially usually pride gets in the way of me trying to get help. And I think I need to address the elephant in the room regarding my financial situation. I'm Broke. And finally I have accepted it. I am barely surviving with the allowance I have and I am not sure if I can still survive until the end of the month. I have tried a lot of things to at least earn more like selling some of my old items to basically crying my eyes out at night hoping gold tears will come out (kidding). not knowing if I have enough money to my next event. Being a blogger is not a walk in the park to be honest. I love what I do, but sometimes its just unfair how as bloggers or content creators we are based by the number of subscribers or readers rather than the quality of work we put out there. It sucks that I have to hav...

The Big T word

I know what you are thinking - AND ITS NOT THAT WORD! The big T word I am meaning to share for a long time is Therapy. I know its quite a sensitive topic to talk about and yes, I go on therapy. Why tho?  Well because I have a lot of issues I need to fix within myself and honestly I need a professional to help me. Talking to a friend is fine but it doesn't really solve all my unfinished issues and repressed emotions because it takes someone that is well grasped in psychology to be able to tell me what's wrong and what I need to do. Its so twisted whenever I tell people that I go on a session almost every week because its like I'm insane - which I am not, I just need to discuss my issues and find clarity in the situations I get myself into. Is it expensive? YES. Its quite expensive, especially here in the Philippines because there are not a lot of mental health care providers that are readily available unlike in the United States where mental health is quite impor...
