Meralco Consumers Enjoys lower power rates in May

Earlier this month, Meralco announced that the rate for its residential customers in May would go down by 41-centavos per kWh, thereby bringing it down to Php 8.44 per kWh

for a typical household consuming 200 kWh, this translates to a reduction of around php 82.00 in their electricity bill. I actually was really happy to see this because as one of the breadwinners in my family, our household really needs to budget a lot so this reduction is amazing for us!

This month’s overall rate is lower by Php 1.54 per kWh compared to
May 2015’s Php 9.98 per kWh. It is also the lowest since January
2010, or over a period of six years. The decrease was primarily due to the generation charge that has decreased by about .21 php for kWh from April.

· Transmission charge likewise registered a decrease of PhP0.10 per kWh
due to the reduction in NGCP’s ancillary charges and slight decrease in Power
Delivery Service (PDS) charge.

One of the things that I learned during the event was also the Orange Tag that you will see in some appliances such as refrigerators, electric fans, washing machines and air conditioning units. The orange tag was actually shown on TV recently as a way for consumers to know how much it would cost per use.

Knowing these things are really helpful for consumers because its a way for us to also be knowledgeable on how our electricity works. And also you can see everything you need to know about your electricity consumption and its charges.

For more information about this you can check out http://www.meralco.com.ph

Much Love!
